Internships for Physics Majors (IPM), Fermilab
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), located just outside Batavia, Illinois, near Chicago, is a US Department of Energy national laboratory specializing in high-energy particle physics. As of January 1, 2007, Fermilab is operated by the Fermi Research Alliance, a joint venture of the University of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology and the Universities Research Association (URA).
And it is inviting applications for its IPM program which is for foreign students from US and non US universities and colleges.
IPM Fermilab offers ten-week summer internships to outstanding undergraduate physics majors and has been developed to familiarize students with opportunities at the frontiers of scientific research in particle physics.
Who can apply:
Location: Fermilab, Illinios
Duration: 10 weeks (June 6 – August 12, 2016)
Number of Internships: Less than 10 (Around 5 each year)

- Participants must provide evidence of identity and eligibility to work in the US.
- Participants must have medical insurance while at Fermilab.

Stipend:
- Wage of $12.50 per hour for a standard 40-hour work week, subject to US taxes.
- Shared housing.
- Shared use of a rental car
- Transportation to and from the airport for out-of-state interns.
